What is ...

Humōn
Songs of the Body of Christ

Humōn (Pronounced hoo-moan) is Greek for the word You. More specifically – of or concerning You. It is plural, not singular.

These are songs about You - the Body of Christ, the covenant community of the faithful. They're more about the we than the me - about the many in One and in one another, and the One in the many.

Humōn is provided freely for your enjoyment; for personal, non-commercial use only, and not for resale or replication. Released 01 January 2011. Performed and produced by Bill Weaver.

Links to individual songs & lyrics along with liner notes are below. To stream or download the entire EP for FREE,  use the player at right or go to the Heartland page at Bandcamp - www.heartland.bandcamp.com.

Say To That Mountain
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
Jesus said we have not because we ask not. Typically applied to one's personal life, it strikes me both Jesus and Paul had a loftier view: for ushering in God's Kingdom and tearing down everything that stands in its way; for speaking into the darkness and calling others out. Their reality was not my reality. This has changed me.

Come To Me
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
God's heart for all of mankind has remained unchanged from the Beginning. I WILL DWELL IN YOU. I WILL WALK AMONG YOU. I WILL BE YOUR GOD. YOU SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. He has ever stood at our doorstep reminding us of who we are to Him; beckoning, calling us back into relationship with Him and one another: "Come to Me. Here I am." This is the root of His Gospel.

If Ever

If ever there was a time, it's now. Come, Lord Jesus.

Apostles' Creed
Music: Mindy Deckard, 2000 Arr. Bruce Benedict, 2006 - © 2006 Cardiphonia Music
A clear statement of faith set to music based on an adaptation of an arrangement by the folks at Cardiphonia.org. Their rendition can be found here.

Be Not Ashamed
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
Shame causes one to go through life looking down instead of up to our God and to those around us. There are two things going on in this song: 1) for those in the Body of Christ we are not what we were then, but who we are now: and 2) Paul's admonition that, given this, Christ's Body has no greater calling than to share the freedom of His Gospel for all men.

Follow Me
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
Jesus calls us to a radical life; a fact easily lost or, perhaps, just misplaced in living our own lives day-to-day. His message was simple and clear. Come. Follow me. Do as I do. Walk as I walk. Love as I love. How simple, but oh how different from what we consider normal. May we follow Him.

Some Day In Heaven
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
While in prison towards the end of his life, Paul passed the baton to his "beloved son" in his 2nd letter to Timothy, and to countless Timothys who have come after. This is that. The song grew out of a mens bible study on 2nd Timothy as we searched for what it means to be a mentor, coach and brother to others in walking out the Gospel. It's in Paul's footsteps I now seek to walk.

Body of Christ
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver- © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
It can be said the Body of Christ -- the Church -- was born complete during the three days of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection for all the faithful who came before, and for all who have and will come after. The wonder of it all.

Your Servant
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver- © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
When Samuel was a boy God called to him, to which Samuel answered, "Here I am. Your servant is listening." So it is for His Church today. May we respond in kind.

If I Had It All
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
For those who walk in the footprints of God's Son, in Him we have been made complete and lack for no good thing.

One Great Truth
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
Jesus said LOVE GOD and LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. It was not new then. It's not new now. God laid it in the foundation of His Creation as not two, but one, and the way things work ... or don't.

Who You Are
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
For those to whom Jesus is Lord, this song is not about you or me (although we're in there somewhere). It's about us. All of us. All who have, do and will call on His Name. Who we are. The Body of Christ.

Benediction
Music & Lyrics by Bill Weaver - © 2011 Bill Weaver Music
Paul's letters are replete with variations on a common prayer: that others would know who they are in Christ by virtue of what God has done. This was his passion. It is becoming mine, as well.
